Almost all trails are cleared to twenty feet wide with a groomed surface of eighteen feet. Most trails are groomed with classical tracks on the sides and a skating lane in the center. The Oslo Trail is groomed with side-by-side classical tracks and no skating lane. The Gold, Silver, and Cedar trails are one-way trails. All others can be skied in two directions.
Sixty kilometers of scenic well-groomed cross country ski trails weave through the Superior National Forest at Giants Ridge. This system was initially developed for intensive training by the US Ski Team and presents long, gradual grades, spectacular vistas, roller coaster rides and a variety of challenge for beginners through accomplished skiers. Three kilometers of Nordic skiing trails are lit for night skiing, and numerous trails are accessible by lift at the top of the mountain.
