Giants Ridge Accessibility Overview

TERRAIN

  • Sidewalks and Pathways: Surfaces include concrete, hard-packed dirt, and bituminous pavement.
  • Public Areas: All primary guest buildings (both Chalets and Golf Clubhouses) are ADA accessible. Operational buildings (Race Timing and mountain operations) are not guest-accessible and are not ADA compliant. The Sprung Building is ADA accessible, but its parking lot is not yet paved; upgrades are planned for the future.
  • Doors:
    • Main Chalet and South Chalet: Equipped with automated handicap door openers.
    • Pool Haus: Main entrance will feature an automated opener.
    • Other buildings: No automated doors currently.
  • Parking: All accessible parking areas are on bituminous (asphalt) surfaces:
    • Main Chalet: 4 spaces (≈40 m to ticketing entrance)
    • South Chalet: 2 spaces (≈35 m to entrance)
    • Wacootah: 2 spaces (≈60 m to entrance)
    • The Lodge / Legend Golf Course: 4 shared spaces (≈15 m to the lodge, ≈50 m to golf pro shop)
    • Pool Haus: 2 spaces (≈12 m to entrance)
    • Note: Maintenance buildings do not have accessible parking. In winter, 2 temporary spaces near ski maintenance are designated for alpine race spectators; the race venue itself is not ADA accessible.
  • Flooring: Interior flooring is a mix of industrial carpet and tile.

ACTIVITIES

  • Giants Ridge partners with Northland Adaptive to support alpine skiing accommodations.
  • Pool Haus:
    • Includes an ADA-compliant lift chair for pool access.
    • One sauna is fully ADA accessible.
  • Golf Courses: Each course has a single-rider ADA golf cart available for individuals with mobility limitations.

BATHROOMS

  • All bathrooms feature grab bars and comply with ADA standards at the time of construction.
  • In multi-stall restrooms, at least one stall is ADA compliant—except at the South Chalet, where the main restrooms do not meet current ADA stall size, but two single-use restrooms do.
  • Stall widths vary but are all at least 60 inches wide.
