Our Terrain Parks

When it comes to snowboarding in the Midwest, Giants Ridge is home to the hottest terrain parks to be found. No matter your skill level, year after year, our terrain parks’ features rival some of the best terrain parks in our little corner of the snow sports world.

Placid Terrain Park

Placid holds our beginner area terrain park. This park is purposed to further progression of freestyle riding throughout all skill levels. Each feature is built close to the ground with low-risk and agility in mind. This beginner area park contains three small jumps and with a few smaller rails and boxes located further down the hill. Novice riders will find it easier to get into freestyle riding with this setup, while intermediate to advanced riders will find it fun and playful to continue to learn new tricks.

Garmisch Terrain Park

Garmisch is home to our larger terrain park. This park contains a full-length run stacked with a various assortment of features. This park holds a few features easy enough for novice skiers and snowboarders, but mainly hosts larger features for intermediate to expert-level riders to enjoy. Garmisch contains 10 to 15 rails and boxes, followed by three larger jumps allowing for more air and bigger tricks.

4 Main Points of Smart Style

Make a Plan

  • Every time you use freestyle terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use.
  • Your speed, approach and takeoff will directly affect your maneuver and landing.

Look Before You Leap

  • Before getting into freestyle terrain observe all signage and warnings
  • Scope around the jumps first not over them
  • Use your first run as a warm up run and to familiarize yourself with the terrain
  • Be aware that the features change constantly due to weather, usage, grooming and time of day.
  • Do not jump blindly and use a spotter when necessary

Easy Style It

  • Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level
  • Look for small progression parks or features to begin with and work your way up.
  • Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air
  • Do not attempt any features unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely
  • Inverted aerials increase your risk of injury and are not recommended

Respect Gets Respect

  • Respect the terrain and others (Freestyle terrain is for everyone regardless of equipment or ability)
  • One person on a feature at a time
  • Wait your turn and call your start
  • Always clear the landing area quickly
  • Respect all signs and stay off closed terrain and features
