Skiing/ Snowboarding: From top-notch ski and snowboard rentals, affordable season passes, and our Snow Shop, Giants Ridge is filled with fun things to do with kids in a Minnesota winter wonderland.
Snow Sports Lessons: Giants Ridge Mountain Sports School offers ski lessons for all levels and ages, with private and semi-private lessons for ages 4-6, group lessons for ages seven and over, a special Homeschool program, and small group ski lessons for children ages 3-4. We also have a holiday camp, a three-day program focusing on skill development, safety, and fun.
Cross Country Skiing: The Nordic trail system at Giants Ridge, originally designed to serve as a training center for U.S. Ski Team athletes, is now available for skiers of all ages and abilities. The expansive trail system traverses the Superior National Forest and offers a variety of terrains to explore.
Snowshoeing Trails: Giants Ridge has three lovely snowshoe trails. Some trails loop around Wynne Lake, and there are more trails to explore in the Superior National Forest.
Snow Tubing: This is easily one of the best things to do outside with kids during the winter in Minnesota. No prior experience is necessary to sit back and enjoy the ride on three snow tubing lanes and a tow lift.
Disc Golf: Our disc golf course offers 18 well-designed holes with stunning views. It’s an ideal location for disc golf enthusiasts, set amidst the rock formations of the Laurentian Divide, offering challenging shots for all skill levels.
Scenic Chairlift Rides: Ride the “Sarajevo Express” chairlift to the top of Giants Ridge Mountain for stunning views of the Superior National Forest. You can access the Ridgeview Overlook Walking Trail and Wynne Lake Vista Trail from there.
Climbing Wall: The climbing wall has six routes, five with auto-belay devices and one with a top-rope belay. It is 32 feet tall and built using rock molds. Climbers must be at least five years old, weigh 40 pounds, and be 42 inches tall.
Hiking Trails: Giants Ridge has six scenic trails that traverse alpine mountains, Nordic paths, and the Superior National Forest. Exploring our nature trails is one of the most underrated things to do with kids in northern Minnesota.
